Expeditions

Most of what MCP publishes comes out of a routine, the same sites, surveyed the same way, on a predictable schedule. This section is the exception, the trips where a team packed a boat and went somewhere further along the coast just to see what was actually there. That's included visits to Basay's coastline, extended reef assessment trips in Bais where the team stayed remotely rather than commuting from base, and other exploratory surveys that pushed our understanding of this coastline past the sites we monitor routinely. These posts tend to read differently too, more narrative, more about what a place is actually like and what it took to get there and do the work properly, since an unfamiliar site doesn't come with the shorthand a routine one does. It's also the plainest record of how much of Negros Oriental's coastline MCP hasn't gotten to yet, which is usually a longer list than the one of places we have.
